MLA congratulates our clients headed to Sundance 2012

Congratulations to "Filly Brown" and "Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Movie"! Both films were selected last week to premiere at next month's Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Filly will screen in the U.S Dramatic Film Category and Billion Dollar Movie as part of the Park City at Midnight series... Complete audio post on both done at Monkeyland. Also headed to Sundance in dramatic competition is the film "Safety Not Guaranteed", which came to Monkeyland for their ADR recording needs. Kudos to everyone involved.

Friday wrapped a busy week of ADR here at Monkeyland, with Sushi Girl actors Mark Hamill, Tony Todd, James Duval, Noah Hathaway, Andy Mackenzie and Cortney Palm all stopping by...

Also in were Lenore Andriel and Larry Omaha, recording Voice Over for the western Yellow Rock.

American Ninja Warrior Season Finale on NBC tonight!

Check out G4's "American Ninja Warrior" 2 hour season finale tonight at 9:00 pm on NBC. ANW is an amazing show where the best athletes from across the country compete for a chance to become the first American to conquer the ultimate obstacle course.

Busy week of feature mixing and TV at MLA

Memorial Day weekend wraps a busy week here at Monkeyland. Mark Rozett finished mixing the indie feature "Top of the Pyramid" on Stage A, while Kelly Vandever wrapped up the final mix on "God Don't Make the Laws" on Stage B. Meanwhile our editorial team began work on Universal's "Beethoven's Christmas Adventure".

On the television front, we just wrapped the hilarious sketch comedy pilot episode of  "The Nick Kroll Show" for Comedy Central, and started mixing A&E reality series "Flipping Vegas".

Mixing for Nickelodeon's "BrianSurge" Season 3 began this week as well as more ADR for "iCarly".

Cougars, Inc. premieres at Egyptian Theater in Hollywood

Indie film "Cougar's Inc." premiered last night at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. Check out this video clip for more info on the film as well as footage from last night's event. Film stars Denise Richards and James Belushi, and will be released by Lionsgate on Blu-ray and DVD May 10, 2011.

 

Will Ferrell's new film "Everything Must Go" trailer out now

Monkeyland Films Busy on Festival Circuit

It's that time of year again and we are proud to see many of the filmmakers we have had the pleasure of working with out promoting their films.

Premiering today in competition at the Guadalajara International Film Festival is Patricia Martinez de Valasco's "Aqui entre nos" (pictured above with some of the cast).

Other film's preparing to screen in the coming month include the comedy "Losing Control" (Vail Film Festival 4/2), and "The Bad Penny" (Beverly Hills Film Festival 4/6).

Having premiered earlier this month at the SXSW film fesitval, "Apart" is also headed to the Dallas Film Festival with screenings on 4/3 and 4/5. Check out reviews and interviews for this amazing film here.

"Everything Must Go" starring Will Ferrell, which premiered at last years Toronto Film Festival where it was acquired by Lion's Gate and Roadside Attractions, will have a special screening later this month at the Tribecca Film Festival. Also premiering at Tribecca will be the touching HBO documentary "Koran By Heart" which has just completed mixing here at Monkeyland.

"Clash" coming to U.S. theaters in limited release 3/11/11

Paramount acquires "The Devil Inside", bets it's the next "Paranormal Activity"

Congratulations to our friends filmmakers Brent Bell, Matt Peterman and Morris Paulson. THR reported earlier this month that the documentary style supernatural thriller has been picked up by Paramount, who is betting the film will be it's next "Paranormal Activity". Read more about it here.

"Apart" Headed to SXSW, currently mixing at Monkeyland

Our friends from "Apart" are back on the stage with us this week, conforming and mixing for their SXSW Film Festival premiere next month. The film looks and sounds amazing.  Click here for more info on the film.

Food Network's "Kid In a Candy Store" Season 2 premieres Feb 14

Don't miss the season opener of  "Kid In A Candy Store" which premieres on Valentines Day, Monday, February 14th on Food Network at 8:30 pm. It's a real sweet treat currently mixing here at Monkeyland.

Also don't miss "Kidnap & Rescue" now airing on Discovery Channel
Saturday nights at 10:00pm.

"Kaboom" opens in NYC and Los Angeles

 Director Gregg Araki's latest film "Kaboom" opens this weekend in New York City. The film which premiered at last years Cannes Film Festival and also played in this month's Sundance Film Festival has been getting great reviews:  New York Times Review

The film also opens in Los Angeles February 4th at the Nuart in Santa Monica.

Monkeyland is proud to have worked with Gregg on this as well as his previous two films "Smiley Face" and "Mysterious Skin".  Also playing on cables On Demand.  Check it out!

Monkeyland Editors/Mixers nominated for CAS/MPSE Awards

Congratulations to our talented Mixers and Editors who have been nominated for 2 CAS awards and 1 MPSE award. "Space Chimps 2: Zartog Strikes Back" and "Lost Boys: The Thirst" were both nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing for DVD Original Programming. "Lost Boys: The Thirst" was also nominated by the MPSE for Best Sound Editing: Direct To Video- Live Action.

Complete post sound editorial and mixing for both films were completed at Monkeyland.

The awards will be presented February 19th (CAS) and February 20th (MPSE).

"The Heart Specialist" opens in theaters nationwide today

The Heart Specialist opens on over 400 screens nationwide today. Directed by Dennis Cooper, film has an amazing cast including Zoe Saldana, Wood Harris, Brian White, Marla Gibbs and Method Man. Enjoy!
